Where did Here Lies No One come from?
So, I suppose you’ll want me to tell you what the book is about and my own vision of it. Here Lies No One, in its most basic terms is about unlocking human potential. It’s about living a life that makes a mark on the world, whether that’s the people that you’re close to, or the entire planet. I’m a deep thinker, I like to explore with my mind, and I asked myself: On my death bed, would the world be a better place because I lived? I’m not really talking about big things so much—although it could be that too—I was exploring whether I have spread joy, helped people, and tried to better myself every day. Through growth and learning, to be the best human I can be. Have I touched people’s lives? Whether it’s one moment that makes them smile or a lifelong friendship or relationship. I guess to me that’s what I strive for. I’m certainly far from perfect and I can’t really be the judge of my success in that regard, so I’ll just do what I do and hopefully touch some lives along the way. Maybe those that read the book, will ask themselves these same questions too. That would be my biggest hope for it.
The poetry speaks to it in more raw terms. How at times it’s okay to have mental health problems or to struggle, even to crumble completely, but most importantly, to never give up. It encourages you to explore the magic that lives within you and embrace the things that make you the amazing human you are. Yes, at times there’s darkness, but there’s always light. It becomes so much easier to feel joy in beauty, in taking a moment, in being present, than it does to see ugliness everywhere. Weaving pictures in words in an honest and real way that at times can cut to the core. The most important thing for me in it, is a glimmer of hope.

Memories endless, pain is relentless
Keeps us locked in the dungeon so dank
Taking comfort in pity, in the cold lonely city
Like a pirate we’re all walking the plank
We lose all our reason, lose track of the seasons
We lose focus and sometimes we slip
Fading to darkness and twisted by harshness
We are burning and losing our grip
Hanging out in the shadows, heading out to the gallows
Step from the dark to the light
Instead of dwelling in nothing, step out into something
And unleash the magic inside
We may feel like we’re losing, but the path that we’re choosing
Is winding and it never ends
The storm above rumbles, we’re talking in mumbles
And tryna hold on to our friends
Sometimes moments just linger, time slips through the fingers
And we’re lost and we sway in the wind
Ducking the fury, writing life’s story
With the joy and the tears that it brings
The warmth grows inside us, yearning in love lust
The tendrils that spread far and wide
When we feel like we’re failing, arms wildly flaying
Unleash the magic inside
We’re losing our senses and we’re sitting on fences
All to seem as though we are pure
Felling uncertain, doubt drops like a curtain
But we can never admit we’re unsure
Fighting and grieving, living and breathing
Can wear us right down to the bone
We’ll survive through the sorrow, get better tomorrow
But at that end of the fight is a home
Smoke’s thick around us, darkness surrounds us
And times we might just want to hide
But you’ll wake to the morning, a new day is dawning
If you unleash the magic inside
Now you will smile and cruise every mile
You’re as one with the being within
No longer unravelled, start winning the battle
Take the shots like a champ on the chin
You don’t feel you’re falling as you find your own calling
You laugh and you work out the way
Some days will beat you, try to defeat you
But now in the past is where it stays
Your armour is stronger, you’re fighting for longer
You’re confident and swelling with pride
You do life like a boss, a walking colossus
